With the V20’s launch fast approaching, LG has posted a new teaser for the handset. The Korean company’s new flagship handset will focus heavily on its audio and multimedia capabilities to set itself apart from the crowd, and the latest teaser from the handset fittingly teases that aspect of the phone. The teaser shows a microphone along with the tagline “hear, see, and more.” It also carries the launch date of 7th September for the V20 in Seoul....

The ad appears to frame Windows 8 tablets as more capable for productivity and more valuable for the price (via The Verge). What’s somewhat comical here is that one of the few advantages Microsoft touts for its tablets is the ability to run PowerPoint, something Microsoft has clearly been holding back from the iPad for some time now....

The Skull Crawlers made for unique and horrifying enemies in Kong: Skull Island, but what are the origins of these nasty creatures? TF International’s Ming-Chi Kuo has cut his estimates for iPhone XR shipments significantly, from 100 million to 70 million, through September 2019. Kuo blames negative consumer confidence due to the ongoing trade war, competition from Huawei Mate 20 particularly in emerging markets, and customers coveting features like dual-camera. Kuo has not lowered his total fourth quarter iPhone estimates of around 80 million units, as he believes the fall in XR shipments will be offset by higher sales of the XS series and legacy models like iPhone 8 and iPhone 7....

This isn’t the first time LastPass has had security problems. In 2021, it appeared that some users’ LastPass Master Passwords may have been revealed. LastPass replied that it hadn’t been breached, but users who had gotten emails warning them that an unknown person was trying to log into their accounts weren’t convinced. Actress Laura Dern was recently the spotlight of a performance from the Gay Men’s Chorus at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out with a new investor note today in which he focuses on Apple’s planned transition to mini LED display technology, as well as the possibility that Apple will release “2 or 3 new chargers in 2021.” Kuo reports today that the mini LED transition will happen faster than initially expected. According to the latest report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may not include the wired EarPods headphones in the box of the iPhone 12. This would naturally drive sales of Apple’s second-generation AirPods, as customers would no longer be getting free headphones with their new phones. Kuo suggests that Apple may heavily promote or discount the AirPods this holiday season, with no new models of AirPods or AirPods Pro expected until 2021....

In a research note released today, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 13 lineup will bring 5G mmWave (millimeter wave) to more countries. The iPhone 12 supports 5G worldwide in every country, it is sold but the mmWave antenna is only included on the iPhone 12 models sold inside the United States. mmWave coverage is limited but if you can find it, users report multi-gigabit download speeds.
