For those of you not familiar with Muramasa Rebirth, it’s a PS Vita port of the excellent Muramasa: The Demon Blade that was released in 2009 on the Wii. The series features the trademark “animated illustration” style that developer Vanillaware is known for… with their newest game being Dragon’s Crown on the PS Vita/PS3. The game is set within Japanese history during the Genroku era… but all you really need to know is you’re a cool looking samurai that gets to hack up a bunch of ninja and crazy looking demons. I highly recommend Muramasa for its gorgeous art style and variety of game play based on different sword styles.
Muramasa Rebirth has been seeing episodic DLC releases in Japan based on Japanese folklore. The fella up there in the header giving you nightmares is actually a real Japanese Yokai (monster) called a Shirime. If you translate its name it would be “oshiri”, which means butt, and “me”, which means eye. See you tuned in for the butt joke… and now you got cultured.
The “Genroku Legends” DLC will be coming to the American version of Muramasa Rebirth next year… here is the trailer for the first episode, The Fishy Tales of the Nekomata:
