Here’s the exact excerpt from the email I received from noreply@lala.com: According to the email, all of my purchased web songs will be transferred over to iTunes, or I will receive an equivalent iTunes credit. While it’s a relief that not all of my purchased music will be available on iTunes, I don’t intend on paying the 50%+ more expensive iTunes prices for the same music. The Lala service will be shut down on May 31st. In appreciation of your support over the last five years, you will receive a credit in the amount of your Lala web song purchases for use on Apple’s iTunes Store. If you purchased and downloaded mp3 songs from Lala, those songs will continue to play as part of your local music library. Remaining wallet balances and unredeemed gift cards will be converted to iTunes Store credit (or can be refunded upon request.) Gift cards can be redeemed on Lala until May 31st. To confirm the closure, they’ve stopped accepting new users and changed the front page of lala.com to reflect this status. Existing users can still log in, so if you want to get some last minute music at “cheaper-than-iTunes-prices” then you have until the end of the month to do so!
