Kylie Jenner has donated $1 million to the Australian bushfire relief after she was criticized for wearing mink fur. As the youngest self-made billionaire in the world, fans expected more of her in this time of crisis.

The youngest of the Keeping Up With the Kardashian sisters has tried her hand at many different ventures in her life, but ended up finding her niche in cosmetics after launching Kylie Cosmetics in 2015. The makeup mogul built her empire off of her billion-dollar beauty company, which started with her signature Kylie Cosmetic Lip Kits after she showed the world she had lip fillers. It’s been rumored that the young reality TV star has also trademarked her name for liquors in the future. Jenner has had a huge platform to work with over the past year, as many people watched her rise to fame becoming the youngest self-made billionaire, according to Forbes magazine.

On January 7, Jenner posted a photo of herself wearing fur slippers which caused immense backlash for the young star, according to Us Weekly. Many thought the photo was tasteless and pointed out that wildlife were dying in Australia due to the catastrophic bushfire. Amid the backlash, Jenner donated $1 million dollars to the relief fund. On January 5, Jenner had posted about the travesties affecting the continent, including the impact on wildlife. According to a source close to the family, Jenner was already in the middle of donating before the fur scandal broke.

The makeup mogul had taken to Twitter to state the fact that over half a billion animals had been killed since the fires started, but fans were quick to point out that - not even a half-hour later - Jenner bragged about her Louis Vuitton mink slippers, which cost $1,480 for a pair. Her followers were outraged, calling her a hypocrite for wearing animal fur. Jenner had made the news recently for posting a picture of herself in hair twists, which received backlash from followers who accused her of cultural appropriation.

Jenner was not the only family member criticized for their lack of support for Australia, as older sisters Kim and Khloe were accused of not giving any money to relief organizations. Kim was quick to shoot down the trolls, denying the allegations and making it clear that she had indeed donated. The fires in Australia have had devastating effects, destroying roughly 15 million acres and taking the lives of at least 25 people. Other celebrities have also donated to the cause, with Chris Hemsworth pledging $1 million on January 6.
