DreamWorksTV releases a full-length Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts trailer. Created by Radford Sechrist, the animated Netflix series was originally teased in June 2019 with a 60-second clip.

DreamWorksTV unveiled the official Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts trailer. The opening premise matches the original teaser, as Kipo strums on her guitar and sings about the strange world she now inhabits, shortly before being surprised by a nosey bird. But the editing is significantly different the second time around, as contextual clips hint at Kipo’s backstory and the looming dangers. After the bird gag, the trailer keeps an upbeat tone and introduces Kipo’s fellow survivors, along with giant wonders that look appealing but are indeed dangerous. As Kipo roams about wide-eyed and hopeful, she learns that a wonderbeast named Scarlemagne (Stevens) is on the prowl, and wants to rule over Las Vistas Zoo with the help of humans. Incidentally, Kipo takes a proactive approach and rallies with her pals. Check out the Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts trailer below. 

After releasing several high-profile Oscar contenders in late 2019 - including The Irishman, Marriage Story, and The Two Popes - Netflix will kick off 2020 with some lighter productions, including the comedy series AJ and the Queen and Medical Police. Netflix also just released the Sex Education season 2 trailer, and the new Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts trailer further reinforces the streaming service’s early-year marketing approach.

For Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, the series’ aesthetic and tone will likely appeal to a variety of age ranges, and perhaps hit the mark for Netflix’s viewing measure algorithm. In 2019, the acclaimed animated series Tuca & Bertie earned a devoted following with its surrealist bird premise and edgy humor, but was ultimately cancelled because viewers presumably didn’t stick with the series for one reason or another. With Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Fukuhara’s existing fanbase will surely invest in the series, especially if the storytelling effectively complements the exquisite animation.
