Kingsman 3 is set to bring back Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, and maybe more into Mark Millar’s world of espionage and fancy suits. Currently due in 2019, there’s a lot of major question marks around the movie’s production thanks to Disney’s acquisition of FOX, and the fact that the Kingsman prequel, Kingsman: The Great Game is going into production first, possibly meaning delays are on the way for Kingsman 3.

Kingsman 3 Is Supposed to Shoot After the Kingsman Prequel, The Great Game

Kingsman 3 was originally set to begin shooting in January of 2019, it’s now being shot after the prequel Kingsman: The Great Game, which is filling that original production schedule. Matthew Vaughn is directing both movies, so it’s been reported that he will first shoot Kingsman: The Great Game, then move on to Kingsman 3 this summer, after a short break.

With Disney’s acquisition of FOX, the status of many future projects are up in the air. Since Kingsman 3 is already in pre-production, it’s less likely to get the plug pulled outright, but until the cameras actually start rolling, that’s always a possibility.

Matthew Vaughn Is Returning to Direct

Considering his command of the source material and the success of the first two films, it’s hard to imagine Matthew Vaughn relinquishing the keys to his Kingsman kingdom. Colin Firth has said that the director had always spoken of the series as a trilogy, and Vaughn’s excitement for the possibilities of the third film is hard to deny.

Vaughn has been confirmed to direct the Kingsman 3. He already had plans for the franchise’s 3rd installment, so he should be prepared to move forward with the completion of his trilogy. Since Vaughn is also directing the prequel, The Great Game first, he’ll be moving on to Kingsman 3 in summer 2019.

Kingsman 3’s Release Date is November 2019 (For Now)

Kingsman 3 is currently set to release on November 8th, 2019, where it would face competition from The Shining sequel, Doctor Sleep, and Roland Emmerich’s WWII flick, Midway, with Sonic the Hedgehog opening a week later; however, now that Kingsman: The Great Game will be shooting first, and Kingsman 3 won’t start shooting until summer 2019, it’s quite possible The Great Game will also inherit the November release date, bumping Kingsman 3 to a later spot.

Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth, and Channing Tatum Will Return

Though he seemed down for the count in Kingsman: The Secret Service, Harry Hart (Colin Firth) will apparently never die. He returned in The Golden Circle and will again feature in the third Kingsman movie. Alongside newcomers Jeff Bridges, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry and Pedro Pascal, many new adventures will be had surrounding Eggsy’s latest journey.

As Vaughn revealed, “The next movie is what happens to these characters. They’re definitely not going to be doing what you’ve seen them do before.” Considering their forte has been murder by numbers and cloak-and-dagger spy-work, it remains to be seen how far afield these characters have yet to go. As for Tequila (Channing Tatum), we can expect him to show up with a natty tux in lieu of his Stetson hat.

Kingsman (Might) Be Getting a Shared Universe

The Kingsman 3 and the prequel, Kingsman: The Great Game, aren’t the only Kingsman projects in discussion. Both a Statesman spin-off and a Kingsman TV show are also a real possibility, which would actually make Kingsman one of the few franchises to balance both big screen and small screen content in the same universe.

Of course, with the many changes due to the Disney acquisition, these seem like the projects most at risk of being canceled, but they are still on the table for the time being.
